Missbunny returns to the blog again after a two year hiatus. It's been a while but she is not fully forgotten. She has just been put away and hidden under the busy-life blanket. Dusting herself off, Missbunny quickly rounded two of her friends and set off together to do the thing Sylvanians love best: explore. This time, they decided to exercise their stiff limbs a bit and go hiking to explore nature. Just walking around in the woods, you will never know who you might bump into. For instance, Missbunny and friends met a giant cat who offered them a ride on its back. It reminded Missbunny of the Cat Bus (Nekobasu) from the movie "My Neighbour Totoro" that she watched a while back. They did some silly things, because in the quiet woods no other creatures seemed to be watching or judging. Missbunny passed by the papaya tree and saw a young funny-shaped papaya fruit, and she promptly decided that it is a good place to take a short break. Her friends agreed with her that it is a most comfortable spot to have a rest. These lovely mushrooms also provided an excellent shade for Missbunny and her critter friends against the rising noon sun. Nature is so beautiful! They had a great outing after hibernating for so long.

Missbunny has just gotten her bags off the luggage carousel when I snapped this picture of her. She will be spending Christmas in a cooler place than here and take the opportunity to sightsee a bit, lucky bunny! Missbunny wishes everyone safe travels and a very Merry Christmas; she will be back again in the new year.
It's raining here so my critters are staying indoors and preparing a sweets party for tonight. Anyone going out trick and treating tonight?
I was playing around with photography apps and decided to give a magazine look for one of my Sylvanian set-up. The building is JP Country Flower Shop, and it is one of my all-time favorite shop buildings. It has a classic florist shop look, with the ornate glass window and the big glass cabinet to store the buckets of flowers. A wooden rack is next to the window, filled with assortment of ribbons and wrapping papers. Too adorable! To give you an idea, below is what the original photo looks like. Photography apps are incredibly easy to use and add fun perspectives to original photos. Helloooo!!! This is an overdue post of Missbunny's photos from her travels back in June. Blame it on me. I was swamped with mundane things like the flu, overseas visitors, and spring-cleaning boxes of my collections (and realizing that my house can't possibly store any more things without looking like those featured in Hoarders). So without further ado, below are some photos of Missbunny and her friend in Kanazawa's Kenrokuen Garden. If you have not been to Kenrokuen, it is a private garden with beautiful landscapes and is considered as one of the Three Great Gardens of Japan: From Kanazawa, we visited the beautifully preserved old town of Takayama where Missbunny walked the streets lined with heritage houses, shops and sake breweries dating from the Edo Period. She posed in front of a scarlet bridge and the Hida Folk Village, a traditional village house that is commonly seen around Takayama during the Edo Period. After Kanazawa, Missbunny made the journey to Tateyama, to see the Japan Alps. Specifically, we took the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route, a picturesque route through the Northern Japan Alps which is travelled by various means of transportation including bus, cable cars, and a ropeway. The main attraction of the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route is the wonderful scenery of the Tateyama Mountain Range, where visitors can experience unique views during different seasons of the year. In spring, accumulated snow from the winter form a snow corridor whose snow walls can reach up to 20 meters high. We went in early summer, so the snow corridor only reached up to 15 meters high. After all that snow and white landscapes, Missbunny headed to the rural towns of Furano and Biei where she experienced the early Hokkaido summer season. Furano and Biei are famous for the many flower farms found around the towns. While we were in Hokkaido, it's not just all about flowers. We saw a lot of greenery too. Missbunny rested a couple of days in Hokkaido's resort town of Lake Toya before heading to Tokyo, our last stop. It was an enjoyable and memorable trip for Missbunny (and her kitty cat friend). That's all for now and I hope I can report soon with another of Missbunny's travel adventure.
It's the June holidays and Missbunny travelled with me to one of my favorite destinations and see some amazing sceneries. Stay tuned for more photos. It's one of those days when I feel totally uninspired and unenthusiastic about my collection. I don't seem to get excited at all looking at Sylvanian Families or reading about new releases.
My figures and buildings are patiently waiting for me to play with them. But the thought of unboxing them, and then cleaning up and putting everything away, just zaps any leftover energy I have. Bleah! I hope it's just a phase that I am going through. Have you ever felt the same? "When one flower blooms spring awakens everywhere". Last weekend, I took Missbunny and her friend to a local flower show. The organizer was showcasing tulips, which is one of my favorite flowers. The floral display was inspired by Madurodam, a miniature park in the Netherlands, and after spending a couple of hours admiring the variety of tulip species I dream that one day I can see the tulips at Keukenhof (with Missbunny of course). I took many many pictures, as it was a beautifully lighted day. It was such a joy to see so many colorful flowers in one place. Below is a selection of photos of Missbunny and her friend enjoying the day too. Hope you like the pictures.
I would love to simplify my life and live with less clutter in a pretty and cosy caravan like this. It would be a great vehicle to travel and see the world, and I would always have a companion in the trusty pony that pulls the caravan. This Sylvanian Dream Issue was released in 1989. The JP set includes a pink caravan and an adorable winged grey pony. The caravan looks to be the same as the Original Sylvanian Families Caravan by Tomy, which was produced in the same year 1989, except for the color theme of the carriage and the nature of the pony. The Original Sylvanian Families Caravan is pulled by Bramble the grey pony. This winged pony pulls the pink caravan and takes off into the sky (as per the promo picture on the box of the set). Who wants to travel in an airplane when one can fly off in such a classy caravan. My winged pony is missing its original accessories so I have made my own. The side of the caravan opens up, and the roof can be removed: Most of the original accessories are shown in the photo, but I have taken the liberty to add other items to make the caravan look more lived-in. Below is some detail of the back of the caravan. I like that you can hang any number of things you might need for a particular adventure at the back....such as a pail, a kerosene lamp, a washing tub, a rope etc. There is also space to hang a bucket at the bottom side of the carriage (the original bucket that comes with the set is beside Miss Ivory Rabbit). Looks like our pony has discovered where its treats are stored in the caravan. The ladder, when not used, can be stored away neatly underneath the caravan: Once you are inside the caravan, you can do a number of things: eat, sleep, wash up, and store your valuables. The little table lifts up and becomes a vanity, complete with mirror. So delightful! Hope you enjoyed the review. It was a little more detailed than usual, because I had so much fun playing with this set.

About MeI like to experiment with photography and dabble in crafty things. I started collecting Sylvanian Families in 2009 and hope that someday my little daughter will enjoy playing and collecting Sylvanian Families as much as I do. Archives
